How to: Disable sharing of a network printer.
Solution:
Open 'NetWatcher' and view printers by shared folders. Select the printer from the list and select 'Stop Sharing Folder' from the 'Administer' menu.
1) Click the 'Start' button to display the 'Start' menu.
2) Select 'Programs'.
3) Select the 'Accessories' menu and select 'System Tools'.
4) Select 'Net Watcher'. (The 'Net Watcher' window opens.)
5) Select the computer to administer:
NOTE: A remote Windows 95 computer must have 'Remote Administration' enabled for you to administer that computer remotely from your Windows 95 computer.
a) Select the 'Administer' menu and select 'Select Server...'. (The 'Select Server' dialog box appears.)
b) Do one of the following to select the remote computer:
1] Type the name of the remote computer in the 'Name' box.
2] Search for the remote computer:
a] Click 'Browse...'. (The 'Browse for Computer' dialog box appears, listing the computer which are members of your workgroup.)
b] (Special Case) If the computer you want to administer is NOT a member of your workgroup:
1} Click the plus sign (+) next to 'Entire Network'. (The list of domains and workgroups on the entire network appears.)
NOTE: If the remote computer is located on another subnet or on the other side of a router, you cannot browse the 'Entire Network' to locate the remote computer.
2} Click the plus sign (+) next to the domain or workgroup containing the remote computer you want to administer. (A list of computers which are members of the domain or workgroup appears.)
3} Select the remote computer you want to administer.
c] Click 'OK'. (The 'Select Server' dialog box reappears, with the name of the selected computer listed.)
c) Click 'OK'. (The 'Net Watcher' window reappears.)
6) Select the 'View' menu and select 'by Shared Folders'. (A list of shared printers and folders appears.)
7) Select the shared printer from the list.
8) Select the 'Administer' menu and select 'Stop Sharing Folder'.
9) Click 'Yes' when prompted to stop sharing.
